Carnevalsbilder is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 357). The work was composed in 1873 and premiered in Vienna on July 9 of the same year under the direction of the composer.

Remarks

The composer has compiled the work based on motifs from the operetta Carnival in Rome . It thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 356 , 358 , 359 and 360 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The name derives from the operetta title. Decades later, Oscar Straus also incorporated some parts of this waltz into his operetta Drei Walzer , which contains many themes by Johann Strauss (father and son).

The playing time is around 9 minutes plus minus a few seconds, depending on the musical understanding of the respective conductor.
