Carol Marsh

Carol Marsh (actually Norma Lilian Simpson ; born May 10, 1926 in Southgate , London , England ; † March 6, 2010 there ) was an English actress .

Life

Carol Marsh, daughter of an architect and a reviewer, originally wanted to be a singer but was not accepted into the Academy of Music and applied for the Anne M. Child Scholarship. She received it and a year later was invited to the J. Arthur Rank Company of Youth for an acting course. She stayed with the Rank Organization in Worthing for some time and received high recognition for her portrayal of Celia in "As You Like It". Marsh became known through the films Dracula (1958), Charles Dickens - A Christmas Story (1951), Helter Skelter (1949) and with her role of Rose in Brighton Rock (1947), for which she prevailed against over 2000 applicants and also the Took on the stage name Carol Marsh.

Private

In her later life, Marsh avoided the public eye and led a secluded life. She died unmarried.
