Carol Skelton

Carol Skelton (born December 12, 1945 in Biggar , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian politician of the Conservative Party of Canada .

Life

Skelton worked as a farmer and rancher and was first elected a member of the Canadian House of Commons as a candidate for the Canadian Alliance in 2000 . She represented the constituency Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar in this, now for the Conservative Party of Canada, until September 2008 . Between April 2002 and June 2003, she was deputy chairman of her party's parliamentary group and also deputy opposition leader in the lower house.

On February 6, 2006, Prime Minister Stephen Harper named Skelton Minister of National Income in his cabinet . She held this office until August 13, 2007. At the same time, she was Minister for Economic Diversification in the West from February 6, 2006 to January 3, 2007.

Carol Skelton is also involved in the Head, Heart, Hands and Health (4-H-Club) organization founded in 1902 .
