Carola Jungwirth

Carola Jungwirth (born June 13, 1966 in Gadderbaum ) is a German economist and was President of the University of Passau until March 31, 2020 .

Live and act

Jungwirth studied business administration at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and received his doctorate at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg on the subject of "Effects of the Maternity Protection Act (MuSchG) and the Federal Education Allowance Act (BErzGG) on women's career entry and promotion opportunities - an economic analysis". At the University of Zurich , she wrote her habilitation on the subject of "Knowledge-based strategy choice in the venture capital industry - a theoretical and empirical analysis".

After a substitute professorship for business administration at the University of Witten / Herdecke and a professorship for corporate entrepreneurship at the University of Liechtenstein, she was appointed to the University of Passau in 2007 , where she has held the chair for business administration with a focus on international management. From 2007 to 2010 she was Dean of Studies and from 2012 to 2014 Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics. Jungwirth was President of the University of Passau from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2020. She was the fourth person and the first woman in this position. Since April 2020 she has held the chair for business administration with a focus on governance at the University of Passau.

Jungwirth has been Vice President for Teaching and Studies at the University Rectors' Conference since June 2019 .
