Caroline Casey (born May 27, 1994 ) is a former American soccer goalkeeper .

Career

During her studies at the College of William & Mary , Casey played for the university team of the William & Mary Tribe from 2012 to 2015 . In addition, she ran in 2015 for the W-League participant Washington Spirit Reserves , with whom she won the W-League championship with a 2-1 final win over the Colorado Pride .

During the January 2016 college draft of the NWSL, Casey was selected in the third round at position 29 of the Sky Blue FC franchise . There she replaced the previous goalkeeper Brittany Cameron, who had moved to Japan, together with newcomer Caroline Stanley . Casey made her NWSL debut on April 17, 2016 in a 2-1 away win against runners-up Seattle Reign FC . After another outing on the second match day of the season, she was initially ousted in goal by Caroline Stanley and released on May 13, 2016 after the engagement of the New Zealand World Cup participant Erin Nayler . Since Nayler left Sky Blue FC after a few weeks, Casey signed a new contract with the franchise. Casey ended her career after the 2018 season.
