Caroline Fourest
Caroline Fourest (born September 19, 1975 in Aix-en-Provence ) is a French feminist writer , journalist and editor of the magazine ProChoix . She is the author of the work Frère Tariq (Brother Tariq), in which she deals critically with Tariq Ramadan .
Life
In her book La tentation obscurantiste ("The Attempt of Obscurantism"), Fourest states that the main reference points of the European left during and after World War II were the anti- totalitarian struggle on the one hand, and decolonization and anti-imperialism on the other. For a long time both could coexist without conflict. After the rise of Islamism in Islamic countries and Muslim immigrant groups, the left is now divided on the question of whether to fight it as a totalitarian ideology or to support it as an expression of an anti-imperialist current.
In March 2006 Fourest signed the Manifesto of the 12 . She has received numerous awards, including the National Prize for Laïcité in 2005 and the “Prix du livre politique” from the French National Assembly in 2006.
In 2019 she is the director of the feminist anti-war film Soeurs d'Armes (Sisters in Arms).
