12th manifesto
The Manifesto of 12 is a manifesto by twelve intellectuals , predominantly from the Islamic culture , which is directed against Islamism as the “new global totalitarian threat” and published on March 1, 2006 in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in response to the controversy over the Mohammed -Caricatures was published. They call for resistance against religious totalitarianism and for the promotion of freedom, equality and secularism . The most prominent signatories include Ayaan Hirsi Ali , the Indo-British writer Salman Rushdie, and the French publicist Bernard-Henri Lévy .

- Taslima Nasrin , Bangladeshi writer and doctor
- Salman Rushdie , British writer of Indian origin
- Antoine Sfeir , Lebanese writer, political scientist and journalist living in France
- Philippe Val , editor-in-chief of Charlie Hebdo magazine , which published the manifesto
- Ibn Warraq ( pseudonym ), Indian writer and critic of Islam
