Caroline von Moro was a born noble von Rainer zu Harbach and came from an old Carinthian family that had been ennobled and knighted in the 18th century. She was born on January 6, 1815 in Klagenfurt, married the Viktringer cloth manufacturer Max Ritter von Moro at the age of 29 in 1844 and gave birth to artistically gifted daughters Sophie and Johanna.

The Moro family was one of the rising stars of the 19th century. The brothers Christof and Johann Moro began producing cloths in Klagenfurt in 1785 and relocated them to the huge complex of the Viktring Cistercian monastery in 1788 , which the state had closed and offered for sale two years earlier as part of the general abolition of the monastery. The Moros were knighted in 1816 and three years later they were also knighted.

Caroline learned the art of drawing and painting from Eduard von Moro and soon became the central figure in the Viktring artist circle . Her artistic work consists of landscapes, still lifes, portraits and interiors. There is a sketchbook with 38 attractive motifs from the 1860s . It contains, among other things, views from the Vellachtal and drawings from the eastern Wörthersee area. In 1871 Caroline von Moro was portrayed by August Prinzhofer (1816–1885) at the age of 56 . The portrait shows a self-confident, dark-haired aristocrat. She died on March 27, 1885 and was buried in Stein near Viktring .
