history
The quarry was located between Andenelle and Gives at the Château de Rieudotte on the banks of the Meuse opposite Wanhériffe . It was founded by the Quevit brothers and was nicknamed Ancienne Firme Quevit Frères, Andenne , even after the name was changed to a public limited company .
A steam-powered light railway with a gauge of 600 mm ran from the quarry to the loading facility at the standard-gauge freight station in Rieudotte and a company's own jetty on the Maas .
In the early 1980s, around 5,000 to 8,000 tons of industrial waste were illegally disposed of on the quarry site. In the meantime, the contaminated material has been removed and the site has been partially renovated by its current owner.
