Carsten Dohme

Carsten Dohme (* 1965 in Sulingen ) is a German travel writer, editor and publisher .

Life

Carsten Dohme was born in Sulingen in 1965. His father Gerhard Dohme (1931–1996) was the managing director of the Lower Saxon Landvolk Kreisverband Grafschaft Diepholz eV, his mother Helga Dohme (1931–2016) was a housewife.

After graduating from high school in Sulingen (1984) and teaching in gardening and landscaping (1987–1989), he studied geography , geology and biology at the University of Bremen (1990–1995). While still working as a research assistant at the Institute for Peat and Humus Research (1995), he founded his first company with a focus on digital navigation systems in the leisure and tourism sector. After divorcing his first wife, with whom he has two sons, he resigned from all his posts and devoted himself to writing. At this time, the novel Forsetas - The Legacy of Lusitania , an adventure story on the west coast of Denmark, was written.

From 2008 to 2019 Carsten Dohme was again managing partner for Gecko-Publishing GmbH, which he founded, which among other things provided cartography for the travel guide Merian Life, which has received multiple ITB awards. In 2019 Carsten Dohme liquidated Gecko-Publishing GmbH for reasons of reducing bureaucracy in his life and converted it into a network.

Carsten Dohme lives with his second wife in Bremen, writes for publishers such as GeraNova Bruckmann Verlagshaus, for the Merian series in the Ganske publishing group and advises tourism organizations on the creation of reader-friendly texts that are optimized for search engines. In addition to his focus on Denmark and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , he published articles on travel destinations around the world.
