The Rheinknie Alter Kopfgrund nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Lichtenau and the municipality of Rheinmünster in the Rastatt district in Baden-Württemberg .

The area extends west of the core town of Rheinmünster. Not far to the west and north, the Rhine flows and runs the state border with France . The state road L 85 runs through the area. The Acher flows to the east .

For Lichtenau and Rheinmünster, a 229.6 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number 2.193 since December 14, 1995 . These are "naturally zoned alluvial forests of the hard and soft wood meadows , reed beds and silting societies , wet meadows , limestone bogs and small dry grasslands ."
