Rastatter Ried

Rastatter Ried is a nature and landscape protection area in the area of the district town of Rastatt and the communities of Iffezheim and Steinmauern in the district of Rastatt and in the area of the urban district of Baden-Baden in Baden-Württemberg .
The nature reserve, which consists of two sub-areas, extends between the west-flowing Rhine and the eastern district town of Rastatt. The Murg flows on the northeastern edge, and the state road L 78 b runs not far from the southern edge .
The Rastatter Ried landscape protection areas of the same name (No. 2.11.007 in the Baden-Baden district and No. 2.16.032 in the Rastatt district) are supplementary areas for the nature reserve.

For Iffezheim, Rastatt, Steinmauern and Baden-Baden, a 561.8 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number 2.196 since December 21, 1995 . It is a small-scale meadow landscape, the remains of the former loop system of the Rhine and the Murg as valuable amphibian spawning waters . This includes
- a near-natural, diversely structured oak-hornbeam forest with a species-rich herb layer
- species-rich forest fringe communities
- Smooth oat meadows of various types
- Orchards
- Biotope network with hedges, groups of trees and bushes, and individual trees
- Near-natural stocks of alder-ash forest and alder-quarry forest
It is the largest contiguous forest area of the wet oak-hornbeam type in the region.
