The Battertfelsen nature reserve near Hohenbaden Castle is located on the Battert in the northern Black Forest in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg city ​​of Baden-Baden .

The protected area is located north of Baden-Baden, it includes the summit area of ​​the Battert and its surroundings. It is almost completely in the Battert forest . The NSG is completely enclosed by the Baden-Baden landscape protection area and also belongs to the FFH area of forests and meadows around Baden-Baden . The protected area is located in the natural area 152- Northern Black Forest valley within the natural spatial main unit 15-Black Forest .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose of the nature reserve is:

• the preservation of the geologically and geologically significant rock group of the Battert and its surroundings;
• the preservation of valuable plant and animal habitats, especially rare insects and reptiles;
• the preservation of the near-natural forest parts growing on the log dumps with their impressive tree populations;
• the conservation of the Battert as a near-natural recreation area.
