The Bruchgraben nature and landscape protection area is located in the urban district of Baden-Baden in Baden-Württemberg .
The NSG extends in two areas northwest of the core city of Baden-Baden and southwest of Sandweier , a district of Baden-Baden. It is to the west of the A 5 , partly directly on the A 5. The B 500 crosses the area. The Oos Canal flows on the southern edge . The LSG consists of four sub-areas and complements the nature reserve.

Since December 2, 1986, an area of 179.0 ha has been designated as a nature reserve for the urban district of Baden-Baden under the protection area number 2.095 and with 113.0 ha under the protection area number 2.11.006 as a landscape protection area. It is a damp floodplain of the Kinzig-Murg-Rinne , which is counted among the most important wetlands in the region in terms of its natural features . This includes diverse wet meadow complexes with typical, endangered plant and animal species.
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose for the nature reserve is the preservation of a section of the damp floodplain of the Kinzig-Murg-Rinne for ecological and natural history reasons. In addition, the preservation and promotion of the vegetation mosaic of the differently humid locations with their typical and increasingly endangered plant species, including the preservation and promotion of the adapted or dependent animal species, which are largely endangered or threatened with extinction.
The main protection purpose for the landscape protection area is to secure the ecologically necessary supplementary space for the nature reserve, the preservation of the buffer zones necessary for the sustainable protection of the nature reserve, the protection of the forest strip as a protective strip against the motorway, the preservation and promotion of the forests, wooded areas, sandy areas and Meadows of existing and ecologically valuable habitat for the endangered flora and fauna as well as the preservation of soils that are well suited for agricultural use.
