Lautenfelsen is a nature reserve in the Baden-Württemberg city of Gernsbach in the Rastatt district.

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Karlsruhe Regional Council of November 27, 1991 and according to the Protected Area Ordinance has a size of around 48 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 2.145. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 164405 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The protected area is located southeast of Gernsbach on the outskirts of the Lautenbach district . It basically involves the rock groups of large and small volume of rock Forbach Granite with the hole rock and extends south and west in an open meadow valley and the surrounding mountain forest.

It is located in the natural area 152 Northern Black Forest within the natural spatial main unit 15 Black Forest and is completely enclosed by the 7,630 hectare landscape protection area No. 2.16.005 Middle Murgtal . It belongs to the 1920 hectare FFH area No. 7216-341 Unteres Murgtal and side valleys as well as to the bird sanctuary No. 7415-441 Northern Black Forest .

The Gernsbacher Runde hiking trail passes the Lautenfelsen. A staircase carved into the rock leads from the path to a lookout point at 593.3  m above sea level. NHN with a wide view over the lower Murgtal .

Protection purpose

The protection purpose is according to the Protected Area Ordinance

  • the preservation of the varied and charming landscape on the edge of the Murgtal for ecological and landscape reasons;
  • the preservation and protection of the rock group of the Lautenfelsen and the Lochfelsen as an important habitat complex for a number of animal and plant species specializing in rocks and as a distinctive and formative part of the landscape;
  • the maintenance and care of the open, moist meadow valley to ensure its ecological functions, especially as a habitat for endangered plants and insects
  • the sustainable protection and development of the mountain forest surrounding the rocks in its typical hardwood-rich form as an important habitat for a multitude of animal and plant species and as the dominant form of vegetation of the western roof of the northern Black Forest.
