Máddji

Ánne Máddji Heatta Bjelland (* 1983 ) is a Sami - Norwegian joiker and former soccer player who appears under the stage name Máddji .

Life

Máddji grew up in the northern Norwegian municipalities of Karasjok and Kautokeino , but moved to Bærum at the age of 15 , where she attended the Norges Toppidrettsgymnas sports school. She became a soccer player in Asker with the women's team of Asker Fotball and she also played in international matches for the Norwegian youth national team. She played there in defense. During her time as a football player, she also studied medicine at the University of Oslo , completing her studies in 2009. A knee injury forced her to end her sports career in 2003.

After the end of her time as a soccer player, she began to occupy herself with music. At the Sámi Grand Prix 2007 she worked as a presenter. In 2010 she released her debut album Dobbelis beyond . It received a rating of five out of six points from the Norwegian daily Aftenposten . She wrote the lyrics on the album together with her father. Her video for Dawn Light reached over a million views on YouTube in July 2015 , making it one of the most viewed Sami songs. Her main job is not a musician, but works as a doctor.
