Carsten Erich Carstens

Carsten Erich Carstens (born December 29, 1810 in Tondern ; † November 25, 1899 ibid) was a German Lutheran theologian and historian .

Life

Carsten Erich Carstens moved to the University of Kiel in 1832 to study theology. In 1837 he passed his official theological examination and returned to his hometown as a deacon in 1840. He became the main pastor and provost there in 1864. He stayed in this position until July 1, 1884, when he retired .

In the period after retirement he was engaged in literary studies, for example he contributed 159 articles to the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie . He had worked on his work on the city of Tondern for 20 years, after all he wanted to publish a biography of Schleswig-Holstein , but could not finish it. He bequeathed the three volumes of handwritten foundations for biography to the University Library of Kiel .
