Carsten Wirth

Carsten Wirth (born May 22, 1962 in Mannheim ) is a German economist and professor at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences .

After graduating from the Friedrich-Gauß-Gymnasium in Hockenheim, he studied economics in Mannheim, Leeds and at the Free University of Berlin from 1983 , interrupted by civilian service at the “mobile social aid service” of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt , Mannheim. In November 1997 he received his doctorate as an external doctoral student in Berlin. He then worked as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin.

After several years of freelance work in professional and political adult education, he was a full-time lecturer at the Federal University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration, Department of Labor Administration, Mannheim (predecessor institution of the University of the Federal Employment Agency).

From April 2008 to February 2014 he was Professor of Administration and Networking in the Social Economy at the Kempten University of Applied Sciences .

From March 2014 he will teach as a professor at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. There he represents the areas of ergonomics and organizational and personnel management .

Wirth is co-editor of the journal Industrial Relations .
