Carter Ridge is an 18 km long and towering mountain ridge in the Victory Mountains in East Antarctica Victoria Land . It looms between the Coral Sea Glacier and the Elder Glacier .

It was mapped by participants in a campaign of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition, which lasted from 1957 to 1958, and the United States Geological Survey between 1960 and 1962. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1973 after the US biochemist Herbert Edmund Carter (1910 –2007), Chairman of the National Science Board from 1970 to 1972.
