The Casa Döbeli is a Ticino town house from the 17th / 18th centuries. Century in Russo in the Onsernone Valley . It stands in the middle of the village, across the slope in a panoramic position. The name of the house comes from the last resident, Markus Döbeli, a philosopher and dropout. The tall and narrow stone house has long suites of rooms on two floors with continuous arcades on the south side.

Description and history

The house has a floor plan that is classic in the valleys of Lake Lugano, with lined up square rooms of roughly the same size. The main entrance is on the south side and leads directly into the stairwell. On the first floor there is the dining room with a fireplace , the kitchen and the living room. There are three bedrooms on the 2nd floor. On the two upper floors, the rooms are connected to each other inside and outside via an arcade . A special feature is a passage on the ground floor that is used as a public path. On the north side there are ruins of an older house, probably from the 15th century and thus the oldest house in Russo. Adjacent to the west, walls are reminiscent of another extension. There is a garden on the southern side of the valley in front of the house.

renovation

The original structure is fully preserved. The restoration work was limited to what was absolutely necessary. The original and historical elements such as built-in wardrobes, walls, doors and stone work have been preserved and gently restored. Some of Döbeli's fixtures have been removed, while others have been left as witnesses to history. In order to guarantee adequate comfort, the bathroom and kitchen were completely rebuilt. All technical installations were also renewed. In the bathroom, the new sanitary facilities are combined in a single block in the center of the room. A wood stove enables heating, the kitchen and the delimiting rooms. The ceiling height in the whole house is almost 2.3 meters. Ruined walls were secured in the outside area and a seat was set up.

owner

In order to preserve the house, it was acquired and renovated by the Stiftung Ferien im Baudenkmal . The foundation is an organization of the Swiss Homeland Security .
