Casa Mainella , also Palazzina Marioni , is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Dorsoduro sestiere with a view of the Grand Canal and the Rio di San Trovaso between the Palazzo Loredan dell'Ambasciatore and the Palazzi Contarini degli Scrigni e Corfù .

history

The building was erected in 1858 where the kitchen garden of the old Palazzo Loredan dell'Ambasciatore used to be.

description

The palace is a low building that is set back slightly. It stands out due to its atypical architecture, as it was built relatively late. The architect Ludovico Cadorin planned the building and was inspired by a revised, eclectic style modeled on the tradition of Piertro Lombardo and Mauro Codussi in the style of Venice in the transition period from Gothic to Renaissance .

The facade shows a large number of decorative elements made of terracotta and white stone, but at the same time its number of windows appears to be limited: on the main floors there are only one triple window and six single windows, but none of these elements is of great architectural value.

The rear facade, devoid of any architectural interest, opens onto a romantic garden that was once part of the large park that belonged to the neighboring Palazzo Loredan dell'Ambasciatore.
