Casa dei Tre Oci , also Casa di Maria , is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located on the island of Giudecca overlooking the Canale della Giudecca in the middle between the churches of Le Zitelle and Redentore.

The Casa die Tre Oci (German: three-eye house) is a building from the 20th century that is associated with numerous well-known names. It was designed in 1912 and 1913 by the painter Mario de Maria from Emilia-Romagna as his new home in Venice. He wanted to remember his beloved daughter Silvia , who had died in 1905: The three large windows on the facade actually represent the three surviving members of the De Maria family (Mario de Maria himself, his wife Emilia , née Voight , and their son Astolfo ), while the double window above is a symbol for the little deceased.
After the death of De Maria, personalities connected with the world of art stayed and lived in this palace. B. the architect Renzo Piano . In 1970 Enrico Maria Salerno shot a few scenes from the film The Glory of Life there .
Today the house belongs to Polymnia Venezia srl. , a society that organizes cultural events dealing with 20th century art. Inside, the original furnishings and many photographic and artistic materials related to De Maria's life and the house have been preserved.

The palace is an example of neo-Gothic architecture from the beginning of the 20th century and a result of various architectural tendencies, from the traditional Venetian fondaco (German: medieval warehouse) to the avant-garde of the 20th century. The building has three floors, but the architect emphasized the importance of the main floor with the three enormous Òci (dt .: eyes), large pointed arched windows overlooking the Canale della Giudecca and the Bacina di San Marco . In the middle of the second floor is the double window, framed by neo-Gothic decorations.
