The Casa del Cid (also known as Palacio de Arias Gonzalo ) in Zamora , a Spanish city ​​in the autonomous community of Castile and León , dates back to a building from the 10th century. The Palacio is located in the historic center of Zamora, it has been a protected architectural monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ) since 1931 .

history

The Romanesque palace at the Puerta de Olivares (also called Puerta Óptima ) is located directly on the medieval city ​​wall . According to legend , the house should have belonged to El Cid . Two lintels from the original building on the side of the city wall have been preserved, the rest of the building dates from the 11th century, as does the arched portal on the street side. The tower was only added in modern times.
