Caspar Friedrich Lange
Caspar Friedrich Lange , also Lang (* 1722 in Neumünster ; † May 15, 1758 in St. Petersburg ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman, educator and librarian.
Life
Lange studied at the University of Kiel and, after completing his master's degree in 1751, gave lectures in logic and metaphysics . In December 1753, the council of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck appointed him to succeed Johann Daniel Overbeck, who had been promoted to vice-rector, as sub-rector at the Katharineum in Lübeck . He was introduced to office on January 14, 1754. Linked to this was the management of the Lübeck city library .
After only nine months in office, he accepted an offer to become second preacher at the Lutheran Peter and Paul Church in St. Peterburg. His ordination , which the Lübeck Superintendent Johann Gottlob Carpzov carried out at the request of the St. Petersburg Church Convention, took place on October 26, 1754 in Lübeck. In December 1754 he arrived in St. Petersburg after an arduous country trip, but died after a short period of work in May 1758. His widow returned to Holstein with two small children .
