Caspar Philipp von Ketteler

Caspar Philipp von Ketteler (* 1612 ; † February 18, 1676 in Paderborn ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman, cathedral dean in Paderborn and canon in Münster .

Life

Caspar Philipp von Ketteler came from the Westphalian noble family von Ketteler and was the son of Rotger Ketteler zu Middelburg and his wife Ursula von Meschede. With the receipt of the tonsure on April 13, 1626, Caspar Philipp was prepared for a spiritual life. On June 7, 1645, he was presented to the cathedral priest of the late canon Caspar Korff with an electoral commission , and on July 1, he was sworn to the families of Ketteler, Meschede, Raesfeld and Büren . With that he came into the possession of the benefice. He was emancipated on April 27, 1648 with the submission of his degree certificate from the University of Paris. The election as cathedral dean in Paderborn fell on December 1, 1651. In 1652 he received the Merlsheim Castle from the Prince-Bishop . Caspar Philipp was a subdeacon .

He was an avid supporter of the Franciscan monastery in Paderborn . When the foundation stone was laid for a new convent building on June 6, 1663, the foundation stone slab bore the following inscription: Anno apartu Virginis MDCLXIII Christi Vicario et Pontifice optimo Maximo ALEXANDRO VII., Leopoldo primo Imperatore Augustissimo etc., Ferdinando Rmo. Celsissimo et Illustrissimo Antistite Paderbornensi S. Rome. Imp. Principe, Corni te Pyrmontano etc. Rms. Gratiosus et praenobilis Dnus. He died at the age of 63. His epitaph is in the Lady Chapel of Paderborn Cathedral.
