Castanopsis wallichii is a species of tree fromthe beech family (Fagaceae) that occurs in Southeast Asia.

Castanopsis wallichii is a tree .
The fruit cups (cupulae) are covered with branched spines . The spines cover the entire surface of the fruit cup. They are very bulky and have three to seven branches. A fruit cup contains one to four nuts that are oval or flattened.
Flowering time is January to November, mostly July to September. The fruit ripens from January to August, mostly in January.
Distribution and locations
The species occurs in Thailand , Singapore and Indonesia . It grows in tropical evergreen forests, often on river banks at 10 to 100 m above sea level.
