After the reconquest ( reconquista ) , the castle was rebuilt, which adapts to the rock contours of the narrow, elongated rock. In 1298 Don took over Juan Manuel (1282-1348), the basic rule (senorio) of Villena , belonged to the well site and Castle of Almansa; In the following years he had the castle completely redesigned - according to his requirements and taste. During the restorations in 1952 and 1990, the entire battlement was restored.
