Castillo de Monasterio de Rodilla
The Castillo de Monasterio de Rodilla is a castle in Monasterio de Rodilla , a municipality in the Spanish province of Burgos in the autonomous region of Castile and León , which was built in the 11th century. The castle has been a protected architectural monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ) since 1949 .
history
The castle is first mentioned in the 11th century in connection with the fighting between the Kingdom of Castile and the Kingdom of Navarre . Only small remains of the castle are preserved today. The fortress originally had three square towers and was protected on the fourth side by an abyss.
