Catalent is a US pharmaceutical contract research and development company. Catalent was formed in 2007 through the sale of a division of Cardinal Health to the Blackstone Group . In 2014, the company went public, and a takeover bid from Lonza in 2016 was unsuccessful. Among other things, Catalent develops drug delivery technologies for other pharmaceutical companies and has 35 locations worldwide. With RP Scherer , the company holds patents for the manufacture of softgel capsules for oral use.
