Catharina Kiehnle is a German Indologist .

Life

Catharina Kiehnle studied Indology (minor subjects Sinology and Comparative Religious Studies ) in Tübingen ( PhD 1977 / Habilitation 1992 at the University of Hamburg ). She did research in Poona , Tirupati and Allahabad and taught in Tübingen, Mainz , Heidelberg , Hamburg and Leipzig .

Her areas of expertise are Sanskrit , Hindi , Marathi , contemporary religiosity in India, in particular Bhakti movements and yoga and Sanskrit recitation and Indian music .
