life and work
Beaugrand studied engineering and made a psychiatric education. Since 1976 she has been a professor at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon .
“In her first works, which were created in the early 1980s, Catherine Beaugrand combines models, decals and drawings in order to logically explore the scope of the representational structure. Cultural overlaps and formal combinations also characterize her later work. "
"My aim is to examine the world of consumption as a world of specialties and thematic ties - from world exhibitions to amusement parks - that pretends to preserve the whole world, even the moon and space."
The sculpture Frontierland was created as part of the art project “Here, There and There” for the State Garden Show 2000 in Singen .
