Cats TV is a German rock band from the early 1980s .

history

The band Cats TV was founded in 1978 by musicians from Cuxhaven . A special feature were the live performances of the band, in which they visualized the statements of their German texts on stage with the help of amateur actors , unusual stage sets, props and costumes. In 1980 the debut album Cats TV was released .

Nationwide, Cats TV became popular in the wake of the Neue Deutsche Welle , although the band thought of themselves as German rock . The LP Killerautomat was able to assert itself at number 55 on the German album charts. After the release, Detlef (Nibbl) Niemeyer joined the band as the second guitarist and Burkhard Kuhn as the new bassist.

In 1983 Cats TV released their last LP No. 3 , which should also be produced for an international publication with English texts. In this formation live performances were denied until 1984. At the end of 1984 Schwanke and Baumann decided to split up the band.

In 1993 there was a brief reunion of Cats TV with the first line-up and Andreas Hinsch (ex-Pandance) on bass.

New beginning

At the beginning of 2004, Cats TV released the CD 2000drei , created through a fan initiative , which contained newly mastered songs and unreleased material. In 2007 the CD Cats TV ... on stage - Live was released in Cuxhaven .

Since January 2009 there is a release of her three published LPs Cats TV, Killerautomat and No.3 on CD in limited edition. In 2010 the Best of CD Revue Optimal was published and another reunion of the band started with a new line-up. Frontman of the Reunion is Stefan Wagner Krüger, on bass is Oliver Lagemann , Tom Baumann on keyboard and Heino Braas on drums and Maik Jibben on guitar. On December 29, 2017 the band was on stage at the "Wattensound Festival" together with Max Giesinger .
