Celia Caturelli

Celia Caturelli (born November 15, 1953 in Córdoba ) is an Argentine artist. Today she lives in Germany and taught at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences from 1997 to 2019 .

Life

Celia Caturelli first studied Modern Literature from 1971 to 1976 at the National University of Cordoba . At the same time, she studied painting and graphic design at the Escuela de Bellas Artes Dr. Figueroa Alcorta in Códoba from 1972 to 1975. This was followed from 1979 to 1983 by further art studies at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. In 1984 she was awarded the Albrecht Dürer Prize for Painting by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes in Buenos Aires .

From 1985 to 1986 she studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with a DAAD scholarship . In 1987 she was artist in residence in Budapest . In 1997 she was appointed to the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, where she taught artistic basics with a focus on painting.

She has taken part in a number of exhibitions, including the Argentinian in Spiegel exhibition in 2001, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Argentina and the Goethe Institute. She exhibited her work there together with Argentine artists such as Patricia Pisani , Miguel Rothschild , Viviana Martínez-Tosar , Martín Mele , Alejandro Dhers , Pablo Castagnola and Pat Binder .

Celia Caturelli has preferred to work with asphalt since 1994 and uses it to create body sculptures.
