Cecilia Martínez (actress)

Cecilia Martínez (born November 22, 1913 in Caracas ; † September 23, 2015 there ) was a Venezuelan actress, broadcaster and television presenter.

The great-granddaughter of Venezuelan President Cristóbal Mendoza and cousin of the artist Armando Reverón and the humorist Leoncio Martínez began her career in 1952 at Radio Caracas Televisión alongside artists such as Carmencita Serrano and Margot Antillano and under the direction of the radio and television pioneer Edgar J. Anzola . Among other things, she took part in a radio play entitled Santa Teresa .

In 1953 she switched to television. She had her first role in a juvenile court series, then she took part in the program Nosotras las mujeres . In the early 1960s she played alongside the photographer and art critic Alfredo Boulton in the series Qué tiempos aquellos based on a drama by José Antonio Calcaño on Canal 5 . At the same time she began working with Néstor Luis Negrón , who directed the weekly program Monte sus cauchos Good Year on Radio Caracas Televisión for twelve years .

It was not until 1987 that she made her debut as a film actress in Iván Feo's film Ifigenia . She then had other roles in Carlos Azpúruas Amaneció de golpe and Julio Sosa Pietris Rizo (both 1998). She wrote the script and directed the short films Pianista and Dios te salve (both 2005).
