Pottblagen is a collaborative album by rappers Reece and MIKI , which was released on November 30, 2018 as the last album on the label Kopfnussmusik . The album can be purchased digitally or as a box set. In addition to the album, the box set also contains the Pottblagen Mixtape , the Gift- EP by Reece and Sonikk and the EP 4 Letters by MIKI as well as a bum bag with the logo of the label Kopfnussmusik and a poster.
background
The album was originally due to be released on October 5, 2018 and was announced with an album trailer on May 21, 2018. Due to problems within the label, the release has been postponed to November 30, 2018.
During the promo phase, the album was ignored by the German hip-hop media.
As part of the release party, which, unlike the release of the album, was not postponed, there was a dispute between a Schalke fan, guests of the party, the police and the rappers themselves, as a result of which 16 people were taken into custody. Reece and MIKI contradicted the view of the incident by the police and media and themed the incident in her music video for problem child .
Subject
Thematically, Reece and MIKI deal with their childhood and youth as well as the hard life of workers in the post-industrial Ruhr area . Other topics that are addressed are alcohol and drug consumption, football, criminal offenses, sins of youth and regretted mistakes as well as the mentality that prevails in the Ruhr area.
Cover design
The cover shows two boys sitting on the curb and a soccer ball. At the bottom are the names of the rappers and the album.

Music videos
As part of the promotion phase, music videos for three songs from the album and one song from the Pottblagen Boxtapes were released on the YouTube channel of the Kopfnussmusik label. A few months after the album was released, more music videos followed for a song from the album and a song from the 4 Letters EP.
The music video for Matrix is about a male protagonist who sits tied up in front of a computer with a CRT screen in a warehouse and tries in vain to free himself. Then another male protagonist comes with a baseball bat , frees the man who is tied up and destroys the computer. Then both sit in a car. In between, short sequences in which Reece raps in the same warehouse are shown again and again.
In the music video for Straßenpöhler there are various scenes in which boys in football shirts from the early 2000s play football on football fields and meadows. In between, MIKI (in a jersey of the Croatian national soccer team ) and Reece can be seen rapping.
The music video for problem child begins with a scene in which Reece and MIKI are sitting in a car and listening to a radio report about an argument between a Schalke fan and a Dortmund fan and then a mass brawl . This fight actually took place at the release party for the album. Reece and MIKI can also be seen in various scenes in an underpass where they are rapping. The framework of the music video is shaped by a young male protagonist. He starts a physical argument with another guest in a bar and is then expelled from the bar. Outside he attacks a passer-by with a baton and knocks them down, drinks vodka at the wheel and deals while his mother reads a letter worriedly. In the end, the protagonist is arrested and taken away by the police in front of his mother .
In the music video for Willkommen im Ruhrpott you can see the two performers as well as a crying clown, a boy, a woman and several men in an old industrial plant in the Ruhr area.
In the music video for Back to You , in addition to the performers Reece, MIKI and DeoZ, various people from the Ruhr area and Berlin are shown. Among them are a homeless person collecting deposit bottles, a dealer, a drug user, a masked robber, a graffiti artist, a street musician, a passenger of the Berlin transport company , a Berlin pub owner and a wheelchair user.
The last published music video for the song Balkanisches Herz from the 4 Letters EP is set in a Bosnian village, where MIKI sits with relatives at a richly laid table, eating and drinking alcohol. In between you can see him performing outside in front of old vehicles.
