Cecilia Samuel

Cecilia Elizabeth Samuel (* 1920 as Cecilia Elizabeth Chan ) is a former badminton player from Malaysia . She dominated the sport in Southeast Asia in the 1930s , 1940s and 1950s and was known as the "Malaya's Queen of Badminton".

Cecilia Chan celebrated her first major international success in 1939 at the Malaysian Open when she won the women's singles. A year later, Chan was successful again in the women's singles at the same event. 1947 and 1950 to 1955, married to AS Samuel since 1940 , she was also unbeatable in the individual. In 1954, as in 1947, she won the Malaysian Open in all three possible disciplines.

In 1949, she won the women's singles final against Chia Pik Sim 11-1 and 11-2 at the national championships in Selangor .
