The Centaur is a recreational and training dinghy that has been built by Zaadnoordijk Yachtbuilders BV since 1960.

Centaurs of a sailing school on the Alster

Rinus Zaadnordijk had the idea for this 16 m² boat, which at the time was still nameless, after the Second World War . After the advent of the polyester material in the 1950s, he and his daughter developed the first plastic Centaur, which was baptized in 1963.

properties

The Centaur is equipped with floats that are firmly integrated into the hull, making it largely unsinkable . The stability is increased by the keel bomb . The cockpit is equipped with lockable storage spaces at the front and rear and large shelves under the side decks and offers space for up to five people. The crew strength for regattas and ambitious sailing is two to max. three persons. The Centaur can also be sailed single-handed .

variants

The Centaur is offered in four variants, which cover the areas from leisure sailing to tough everyday life in boat rental and also enable a motorization ( outboard or integrated in keel bomb). The hull of the Centaur used to be made of polyester and later GRP . The ships are built under CE standards.
