Centaurus-A is a band from Cologne , founded in 2000 , that plays a mixture of Technical Death Metal and Thrash Metal . The name refers to the galaxy Centaurus A , which is known for its strong radio emissions .

history

Centaurus-A was founded in 2000 by Maik Matanovic (electric guitar), Patrick Schröder (drums) and Michael Ahlgrimm (bass) in Cologne. After releasing two demos, the line-up was completed in 2003 with the addition of guitarist Hernan Martinez and singer Johannes Henke. After the release of several demos, the demo Narcotic was recorded in a recording studio in 2003. In the following years the band played at various concerts in Germany.

In April 2007 the band recorded their first album Side Effects Expected . Centaurus-A signed a contract with Listenable Records in March 2009 . After the release of the debut album, the band played at various concerts in Europe, including with bands such as Gojira and Hatesphere . The band also took part in some festivals such as the Metalcamp .

style

Centaurus-A primarily plays a mixture of Technical Death Metal and Thrash Metal . The music is generally very varied, so that there are also influences from Melodic Death Metal and Groove Metal . Changes in tempo between songs are also frequent. In various reviews of the debut album, Patrick Schröder's precise drumming was particularly emphasized.
