The Central Chambers (French Édifice Central ) are a listed building in Ottawa . The commercial building on Confederation Square was built in the Queen Anne Revival style from 1890 to 1891 . It combines neo-baroque with classicist elements and has been classified as a national historical site since 1990 . The owner has been the real estate investment trust Allied since 2011 . The main tenant is the National Capital Commission .

Location and description

The house at 40-46 Elgin Street is on the corner of Queen Street in the Centretown district and one of the fronts faces Confederation Square . Central Chambers is connected to the Scottish Ontario Chambers, also a listed building, through the high-rise The Chambers .

The six-story building is made of red brick. The lower two floors are designed as arcades. The building has three rows of blue bay windows above it and a row of Palladinistic windows above.
