The Center Alliance (CA) (German: Center Alliance ) is an Australian party of the political center with a focus on South Australia . Its program is populist and geared towards national interests in Australia, especially in South Australia. The forerunner of this party was called Nick Xenophon Team (NXT), which renamed itself in 2017. The Nick Xenophon team was politically dominated by their former chairman Nick Xenophon.

The seat of the party is in the state of South Australia and it advertises on its website with the slogan "South Australia always come first" ("South Australia always comes first").

Program

In economic terms, the Center Alliance focuses on promoting agriculture, forestry, fishing and nationally produced products. When it comes to climate protection , this party stands for the goals of the Paris Agreement of 2015 . Investments by foreign investors should be based on the Australian welfare and should be entered in a register from an amount of $ 5 million. The settlement of less populous regions is to be given tax advantages, and immigrants who want to settle in these areas should receive a special visa. Small businesses, which make up the bulk of the employment in Australia, are said to be tax-privileged. Companies that offer services such as electricity, water, gas, Internet and telephony ( National Broadband Network ) should be in public hands.

The party wants to reorganize the Australian secret service and thus bring together the various existing organizations.

In its program, the Center Alliance advocates better integration of the Aborigines into society and generally grants them a right to land.

Violence in families should be consistently prosecuted and punished. The party sees the widespread gambling addiction among Australians as a great danger to the common good and demands alternatives to it. The Center Alliance supports euthanasia. In pronouncements, the Center Alliance advocates same-sex marriages, which is already legal in Australia.

The immigration to Australia should be per year limited to a total of 27,000 people, while the provisions of the will UNHCR be observed.

houses of Parliament

Under the name Nick Xenophon Team , the previous party was represented in the Australian Senate by Nick Xenophon from 2008 to 2017, Stirling Griff since 2016, Skye Kakoschke-Moore from 2016 to 2017 (resignation due to dual citizenship in 2017) and Rex Patrick from 2017 to 2019 (as a replacement for Nick Xenophon).

For the Center Alliance, Rex Patrick won a seat in the Australian Senate in the parliamentary elections in May 2019 . In the House of Representatives holds Rebekha Sharkie since 2016 (with a break in 2018) a seat for the Center Alliance.
