Centroptilum luteolum is a species of insect from the order of the mayflies (Ephemeroptera).

Characteristics of the larva

The body is up to 7 millimeters long. The shape and color of the body as well as the way of life are similar to that of larvae of the genus Baetis . The antennae and tail threads are about the same length. The tracheal gill leaflets are pointed-ovoid.

Occurrence and way of life

The species occurs in Europe, northern Asia and North America. The larvae live in rivers and streams as well as standing water. They hang out under stones or swim. Their diet consists of periphyton . The generation period is one year. The time of flight of imagines is from May to September.
