The Century Gothic is a sans-serif font, which by the Monotype Corporation was designed in the 1991st Century Gothic is essentially based on the Twentieth Century by the American typographer Sol Hess , who designed it between 1937 and 1947 for the Lanston Monotype Company as a variant of the successful Futura font, with a more even font width and a larger center length or X-width . Century Gothic can be recognized particularly by the design of the "a" and the "g". The Century Gothic is closely related to the Avant Garde Gothic by Herb Lubalin and the ITC Avant Garde , with which it combines its clear geometry.
Examples of usage
- The "Century Gothic" font is now used in all AEG products, e.g. B. on packaging or on keys of landline phones.
- In France, the font was used by the Mouvement démocrate party for the top candidate François Bayrou in the French presidential election 2012 (slogan: LA FRANCE SOLIDAIRE).
