Ceratium euarcuatum is a species of the dinoflagellates .
properties
The cell has a strong outer cell body, the size of the cell is approx. 40 µm. There are three relatively large cell processes. One process is in front (apical), one speaks of the anterior horn, two others, evenly pronounced, are antapical. The latter two are bent backwards and thus surround the apical process, whereby the shape of the individual processes can also be different.
ecology
Ceratium euarcuatum is oceanic and occurs in tropical areas. Locations are u. a. Coasts of the Canary Islands and the People's Republic of China and Taiwan , as well as the Mediterranean . The greatest amounts occur in winter. Compared to other species, however, the quantities are relatively small.
It prefers oligotrophic water but also occurs in eutrophic environments.
