description

Harrisia 'Jusbertii' grows upright and leans against branches. The dark green shoots are 4 to 6 centimeters in diameter. There are six flat ribs . The areoles , which are 1 to 2 centimeters apart , are initially yellow-tomentose and later gray-tomentose. Initially, red to red-brown thorns arise from them , which later turn dark brown to almost black. The single strong, conical central spine is up to 6 millimeters long. The approximately seven strong, conical radial spines reach a length of up to 4 millimeters. The top two of them are the longest.

The slender funnel-shaped flowers reach a length of up to 18 centimeters. The more or less spherical fruits are red.

Systematics

Synonyms of Harrisia 'Jusbertii' are Cereus jusbertii Rebut ex K.Schum. (1898), Eriocereus jusbertii (Rebut ex K.Schum.) Riccob. (1909), Harrisia jusbertii (Rebut ex K.Schum.) Borg (1937), × Harrisinopsis jusbertii (Rebut ex K.Schum.) PVHeath (1992) and × Eriocereopsis jusbertii (Rebut ex K.Schum.) Doweld (2002) .

Harrisia 'Jusbertii' has never been found in nature. There is speculation that the plant could be a hybrid between a species of Harrisia and a species of Echinopsis . Then the correct name would be × Harrisinopsis jusbertii (Rebut ex K.Schum.) PVHeath . Other authors assume that this form is a chimera .
