Cerstin Petersmann (born November 27, 1964 in Dortmund ) is a former German rower who won an Olympic bronze medal in 1992.

The older daughter of the rowing trainer Günter Petersmann began rowing in 1980 and started for the rowing club Hansa from Dortmund in 1898 . In 1982 she received the silver medal with the eighth at the Junior World Championships . Already in 1983 she won her first German championship title in the adult class in a four with a helmsman . At the 1983 World Cup she was a member of the German eight for the first time and finished seventh. In 1986 she won the German championship title with a double scull from Hansa Dortmund, and her younger sister Katrin Petersmann was also on board . In 1987 she finished fifth at the world championship with eighth. In 1988 she won the German championship title in the four with a helmsman, with her sister and almost namesake Kerstin Peters as a helmswoman in the boat. The five rowers from this boat moved up to eighth for the Olympic Games ; in Seoul they only reached the B final, which the eighth won.

After the Olympic Games in 1988, the four-man with helmsman was replaced as the Olympic boat class by the four-man without helm woman. At the first German championship in this new boat class, the two Petersmann sisters together with Sylvia Dördelmann and Monika Kordhanke took second place. The following year, Sylvia Dördelmann and Cerstin Petersmann competed together with Gabriele Mehl and Meike Holländer . After winning the German championship title, the four rowers took second place behind the Romanian boat at the World Championships in Tasmania, but ahead of the four from the GDR. In 1991, after the unification of the two German rowing associations, Petersmann and Mehl from the West German foursome joined Judith Zeidler and Kathrin Haacker from the GDR foursome. After winning the title at the German Championship, the boat reached third place at the World Championship behind the boats from Canada and the United States. All four rowers from the four also competed in the eighth position in the 1991 German championship and had won the title. In 1992 Cerstin Petersmann, Haacker and Zeidler only competed in eighth and won the German championship again. At the 1992 Olympic Games , the eighth finished third behind the boats from Canada and Romania.

For this she received the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993 .

During her career, Cerstin Petersmann was an active spokesperson in the German and International Rowing Federation . In addition to her sporting career, she studied special education.
