Günter Petersmann

Günter Petersmann (born April 21, 1941 in Dortmund ) is a former German rower who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Petersmann from the Dortmund rowing club Hansa from 1898 was German champion for the first time in 1971 when he won with the club eighth . In the following year he won the titles in the four without a helmsman and in the four with a helmsman , with Reinhard Wendemuth , Bernd Truschinski , Günter Petersmann and Frithjof Henckel rowing and only helmsman Günter Wohlgemuth . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , Petersmann rowed into fifth place with the Germany eighth .

Günter Petersmann was a trained telecommunications mechanic and later worked for the Deutsche Bundesbahn. His two daughters Cerstin and Katrin both took part in rowing at the Olympic Games.

In addition to his professional career, Petersmann took part in the development of the Federal Rowing Center in Dortmund . As a trainer he was particularly successful with the Ruhr four-man, the boat with Jörg Puttlitz and Norbert Keßlau from the Hansa rowing club and the Witten brothers Volker and Guido Grabow , which became world champions in 1983 and 1985 . From 1973 to 1990 Petersmann was national coach at the German Rowing Association .
