Galhausen is a village in the German-speaking Community in Belgium and part of the municipality of Sankt Vith . The place has 214 inhabitants (information as of December 31, 2015).

Galhausen is located around three kilometers south of the core town of Sankt Vith in the valley of the Braunlauf river .

Barrows Schinkelknopf

On the western outskirts of Galhausen are the tumuli Schinkel button . These are Celtic graves from the Iron Age , the last visible evidence of the pre-Roman settlement of the Eifel, which are dated to around 750 to 100 BC. The barrows are now protected as cultural monuments.

history

Before 1977 Galhausen was administered by the municipality of Lommersweiler . With the Belgian community reform , the new large community of Sankt Vith merged.
