from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neidingen is a district of the municipality of Sankt Vith in the German-speaking Community of Belgium . It has around 85 houses and around 200 residents.

Infrastructure

The Braunlauf brook flows through the village , a right tributary of the Our , which also runs past the small St. Antonius chapel. The village has a dwarf school with six years in a single classroom.

The Belgian motorway A 27 runs north and east of the town and turns east of the border into the A 60 ( European route 42 ) Liège - Verviers - Sankt Vith - Prüm - Bitburg - Wittlich , with the nearest junction being Lommersweiler. The railway line from Sankt Vith to Lommersweiler, which had been shut down for decades and has now been dismantled, ran through the village . The branches that separated here continued via Reuland to Troisvierges in Luxembourg with a connection to the Luxembourg – Spa railway line or to Germany via Bleialf , Pronsfeld and Prüm to Gerolstein on the Eifel line . The Eifel-Ardennes cycle path from St. Vith to Gerolstein , which also runs through Neidingen, was built on sections of the latter former railway line, with connections to further long-distance cycle paths . The Vennbahn cycle path created on the Vennbahn ends in Troisvierges.

event

Between 1991 and 2014 a potato festival took place every two years in Neidingen , at which a potato harvest competition was organized and historical agricultural methods were presented.
