Breitfeld is a village in the German-speaking Community in Belgium and part of the municipality of Sankt Vith . The place has 136 inhabitants (information as of December 31, 2015) and today forms the village community Breitfeld-Wiesenbach together with the neighboring Wiesenbach to the west .

Breitfeld is located around three kilometers southeast of the core town of Sankt Vith in the valley and on the hills east of the Prümerbach, a tributary of the Braunlauf . Immediately south of the village runs the Belgian A 27 motorway with the next junctions Sankt Vith-Süd (No. 15) and Steinebrück / Lommersweiler (No. 16), between which the Breitfeld Viaduct near the village spans the Braunlauf valley. East of the border on German territory, the motorway changes to the A 60 ( European route 42 ) Lüttich  - Verviers  - Sankt Vith - Prüm  - Bitburg  - Wittlich .

history

Before 1977 Breitfeld was administered by the municipality of Lommersweiler . With the Belgian community reform , the new large community of Sankt Vith merged.
