David Chad Campbell (born May 31, 1974 in Andrews , Texas ) is an American professional golfer of the PGA TOUR .

Career

He attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and became a professional golfer in 1996 . Until 2000 Campbell played on the NGA Hooters Tour , a regional tournament series of the third level in the USA. There he won 13 tournaments and three times the money list, before he took on the next level - the Buy.com Tour - in 2001 . With three wins, Campbell secured early eligibility to play the big PGA TOUR and in 2003 he landed his most valuable win to date by winning the prestigious Tour Championship , followed by two more titles to date. Campbell missed the first major win at the 2003 PGA Championship on the last hole by one stroke when Shaun Micheel managed a birdie with a magic stroke .

He played for the US team at the Ryder Cup in 2004 , 2006 and 2008 .

Chad Campbell is married to his wife, Amy, and lives in Lewisville , Texas .
